Our Story

Educational Equity & Enrichment Hub programs are being opened, with enhanced health, safety, and cleaning measures, to provide care for children and provide distance learning support at elementary school buildings in Montgomery County, MD. Children who participate in this program can be dropped-off at the program at 8:30am in the mornings so parents are able to have a safe environment for their children to learn and grow during the school day. After classes conclude in the afternoon, there is fun and enriching activities to keep kids active and engaged until they are picked up.

To ensure the health and safety of everyone involved in the program, children will be placed in cohorts, or classes, of 13 children supported by 2 staff members. While there may be multiple cohorts at a location, children will stay with their assigned cohort at all times.

This program is for students who may not have internet access and/or adequate adult supervision to ensure successful distance learning. Families will be asked to show a financial need and be willing to commit to bringing their child to the program every day.

Daily Programming

The day will be built around supporting distance learning and providing children with the social emotional connections that have always been the foundation of child care programs. Based on each child’s distance learning schedule, the staff will make sure that devices are connected, children are logged in on time to class, they remain engaged with their teachers, and they have access to the resources that they need to complete assignments. Outside of distance learning times, the children will remain in their cohort groups for time outside, crafts, games, and all of the other activities that your kids have come to love at school (modified to allow for physical distancing and other healthy practices).

A sample schedule of what a day may look like:

  • 8:30am – 9am: Arrival, Morning Snack, and Learning Centers

  • 9am – 11:45am: Distance Learning Support

  • 11:45am – 12pm: Break for Cleaning & Sanitizing
